The workshop provides critical cultural knowledge for any top-level executive hoping to increase business in the United States or with American firms doing business in China.

Communicating with Americans is an intense 2-hour workshop for a select number of top level executives designed to increase their clarity and effectiveness when speaking with Americans - with or without a translator.

Topics include:

  • Greetings,
  • How to begin a meeting,
  • Making a strong impression,
  • What Americans are listening for,
  • Small Talk,
  • Planning a specific agenda,
  • How to follow the agenda and keep time within range,
  • How to answer questions clear to the Americans' ear,
  • When and how to say "Excuse me and thank you",
  • How to argue or disagree the American way and keep the ball rolling,
  • What can and cannot be discussed, and
  • How to end the meeting.

The workshop will also address how to give specific examples to typical American questions and prepare for common situations. Body language, gestures and deportment will be analyzed through interactive exercises.
